On March 21, the Greater Easley Chamber of Commerce presented its Annual Small Business Awards at Tri-County Technical College-Easley Campus. Sponsored by Truliant Federal Credit Union, several businesses and individuals were honored for their leadership and community service.
Among those awards, That’s Karma Boutique featuring Good Karma Ice Cream was honored as the 2023 Small Business of the Year, which recognizes a small business with a special entrepreneurial spirit, a unique marketing approach, or a special focus on the customer that results in a successful business…all while making time to actively serve the community.
That’s Karma was recognized as a small business whose success has been driven by constant diversification and their desire to support the community. Established in 2011, this local upscale consignment shop & boutique has become a staple in the community, providing a variety of goods that everyone can enjoy. In addition to quality consignment merchandise and fashionable boutique items, they support hundreds of local artists showcasing their diverse products such as jewelry, soaps & lotions, pottery, housewares, apparel, and more.
In 2016, they were approved as a Hershey Ice Cream franchise and expanded their business model to include Good Karma Ice Cream which offers a unique space for sweet treats and lunch, serving up scoops of not only ice cream but homemade pimento cheese, chicken salad, and tuna salad. According to Shane Metcalf, Area Manager with Hersheys Creamery Company for Upstate SC & Western NC, Good Karma Ice Cream is one of the top 3 accounts in his sales region, winning the prestigious Golden Spoon Award for top sales volume every year since opening the Easley franchise in 2016. It’s important to note this single-location franchise in Easley ranks #3 in the region, only behind Biltmore Estate at #1 and Jack the Dipper in NC at #2 with 5 locations. Mr. Metcalf contributes this success to the fact Good Karma delivers outstanding customer service and constantly introduces new & fun ideas. Locals commend both That’s Karma and Good Karma as having the best customer service, always welcoming everyone with a smile, and bringing excitement to downtown Easley. In addition, they promote a “shop local” approach and are always willing to support any community effort. And with a downtown Easley location, they have become a well-known attraction to showcase our growing downtown business district.
Please join Greater Easley Chamber of Commerce in honoring That’s Karma Boutique featuring Good Karma Ice Cream as the 2023 Small Business of the Year.
